On Hollywood Road

A bit of shameless self-promotion

Posted in Uncategorized by Alex Daye on November 29, 2010

I haven’t done this for awhile, but as I spent my day off today not doing anything particularly blog-worthy (would anyone like to see photos of my desk? didn’t think so…), I thought I’d share some of the nice articles recently out about our little shop and brand. This one’s hot off the press, and we couldn’t be more pleased, as we always – back in the day we used to actually travel- made sure to pick up the Wallpaper City Guides, since just important as a listing in a travel guide is a big photo…

And this might be the nicest photo of our shop I’ve yet to see (even if it doesn’t look like this anymore)…

Next up is a lovely little Hong Kong magazine called Eat & Travel Weekly; we were happy to be included in a long feature they wrote about our charming neighborhood.

Another one of our favorites is Monocle– now, since the opening of their bureau on St. Francis Yard, a quasi-local publication- and we were flattered to see a pair of our very popular camping shorts made the final cut in their fashion section.

We also love that we’re in the company of some fellow moustachioed gentlemen from New York City…

I.T. is a powerhouse of trendy on the Hong Kong fashion scene- in addition to their multi-brand boutiques and locally designed line, they run the shops here for Commes des Garcons, Maison Martin Margiella and Ann Demeulemeester. As if that’s not enough, they put out a magazine, I.T. Post, creative directed by our good friend and famous blogger Kwannam Chu, which can only be described as “high concept.”

Kwannam was nice enough to let me write a little piece for the latest issue- a slender pull out in a magazine of pull outs, pop ups, puzzles and lots of other fun and tricky stuff. It wasn’t easy to dislodge from the magazine, and harder still to scan it, but I guess that’s just part of the fun!

Also included in “our section” are some groovy paintings of various superheroes modeling the latest runway looks, such as this one of The Joker wearing Junya Watanabe:

And The Catwoman wearing Rick Owens, both painted by John Woo- is it the legendary Hong Kong director?

In any case, surely a collector’s item, and we’re truly chuffed to be part of it, and all the great magazines that write about us…
