You can see the images that are inspiring us on a daily basis. And of course you can send us pictures that you think we might like.
Yet another way to creatively kill/waste some time? Perhaps, but it is a lot of fun.
Here is a little gem. China Book Co. is a stationary shop just up the road from us on Hollywood Road. It’s one of those strange Hong Kong shops that are always empty and have very little to sell. Until now. Our friend David Ericsson from Square Street stopped by Wednesday loaded down with all manner of cool vintage books, maps, pens, and other treasures. Apparently the shop keeper dragged out all the dead stock Monday morning and by lunchtime all of Hong Kong’s graphic design community were swarming like lions to get the first picks amongst the abundance of stationary goods. We didn’t mess about either. We made several journeys throughout the day, to collect our share of note books, traditional HK maps and envelopes, perfect for the desk at home. Like a good junk yard sale, we managed to walk away with some spare change in our pockets!
The China Book Co.
Lots of Goodies
Maps and toys!
Lots of cool exercise books
A Rolls Royce binder- dress to impress fellows!
Here’s an idea for the China Book Co., if you want to really give G.O.D a run for their money, keep the dead stock rolling out- the kids all love it! It’s a great space and if it was filled with cool old stuff with a vintage Hong Kong vibe it could be one of the coolest shops in town… Sadly this thought is not to be. This neighbourhood fixture of a shop is closing down after operating in this location for 40 years due to a very high rent increase. Oh Hong Kong landlords, why do we always hear the same sad story?
