The Bearded Lady comes to Tokyo
The Bearded Lady, for those of you not yet to visit her, is our monthly cabaret which takes us traveling through long gone but never forgotten eras and places at our whim. At past salons, we’ve visited Berlin in the 1930s and Rio in the 1940s. We look to capture a mood through music, performance and ambiance. It is proving to be a lot of fun for us to do and hopefully for our guests as well.
Magician Stuart and pianist Marie Qing Bouveron perform at the first Bearded Lady.
Our resident horn blower, Mr. Danny DePoe.
Burlesque superstar Julie Shah and Chanteuse GiGi.
Paola and Inti dancing at the second Bearded Lady, down South America Way!
GiGi and the Band.
After her resting up from her last cha-cha-cha on Hong Kong Side, The Bearded Lady has decided to jet up to Tokyo to celebrate Bastille Day (and, coincidentally, our pop-up Tailorshop) with a salon inspired by the Paris of the surrealists- think Salvador Dal, Josephine Baker, absinthe, ladies with short hair and racoon eyes and of course, lots of Moustaches! Though this is NOT a fancy dress party, we always appreciate guests efforts to dress fancily. We’ll mingle in appropriately low lighting with glasses of bubbly to music from Paris’s Jazz Age. There will be a few surprises too, including a high concept burlesque performance from our resident dancer the beautiful Ms. Julie Shah. Since this is our first Tokyo salon, we look forward to getting to know lots of new and interesting folks, so if you are in Tokyo please feel free to bring along some friends- just let us know how many so we can stock the fridge accordingly! We’ll be on the upper floors at Midori.so (directions at the link) from 8-10:30, with an after party in the neighborhood to be announced. Please RSVP on our Facebook page or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. On behalf of Moustache, Stiibu and Midori.so, we look forward to seeing you there!
